Greg Gow
Toronto – RSPX // RESTRUCTURED
Toronto native Greg Gow has been steadily building a formidable reputation as one of Canada’s greatest musical exports in recent years. The Juno Award WINNER producer & DJ has been consistently pushing the boundaries of his art, with his unique sound being a skillful hybrid of soulful Detroit techno, marinated in the flavours of his Toronto roots. Hugely influenced by Detroit because of a deep appreciation for the sound and people of the area, Greg’s track “The Bridge” played a vital part in re-launching Derrick May’s legendary Transmat label, and releases on Kevin Sanderson’s KMS took the techno world by storm. Further releases have spread his sound to other labels, such as Radioslave’s Rekids (RSPX), Marc Romboy’s Systematic Recordings, Christian Smith’s Tronic and Steve Bug’s Pokerflat, alongside Adam Beyer’s Truesoul, and Dubfire’s SCI+TEC.
His debut album Lost Days was released on Art Department’s Social Experiment Records a few years ago, and takes the listener on a journey across the full range of his production styles; touching on everything from classic dub techno, to deep rolling house, and even late night ambient vibes. In 2019, Carl Craig’s legendary Planet E imprint released his Paradigm Shift EP, and from it “Lantana” became one of the tracks of Ibiza that season. In 2020, Greg’s Base Jumping EP was released on long-time supporter Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings, and most recently Greg has made his debut on Radioslave’s stand-out imprint Rekids with multiple releases planned for 2023. He also received a 2023 Juno Award nomination for his track “I Knew Techno” in the Underground Dance Single of the Year category.
Since 2001, Greg’s own imprint Restructured Recordings has been pushing deep, funky, driving melodic techno from artists such as Mateo Murphy, Samuel L Session, Ian O’Donovan, and of course, Greg himself. He’s also been producing a monthly podcast series for over 3 years entitled This Is Modulations, which features both recordings of live sets as well as studio mixes.
Alongside his studio prowess, Greg is one of Canada’s most respected techno ambassadors, regularly playing alongside the behemoths of dance music. On his home turf, he has a residency at Toronto’s Coda, as well as making appearances at Stereo Montreal and some of Canada’s premiere festivals like Electric Island, and Dreams. On a global level, Greg has played recently at The BPM Festival, Output NYC, Movement Detroit, Watergate Berlin, WMC Miami, Creamfields, Club Air Tokyo, and many more.
